Blackpool moves into Tier 3 Very High Alert

From December 2020 the second national lockdown will end and Blackpool will be placed into Tier 3 of the government alert level system. Tiers will be strengthened compared to the previous tier measures in order to prevent a return to growing infections and to help suppress the virus.

This means:

  • No mixing of households indoors, apart from support bubbles. You can meet in a group of up to six in some outdoor public spaces (e.g. parks, public gardens)
  • You can continue to travel to venues or amenities which are open, but should aim to reduce the number of journeys you make where possible. You should avoid travelling to other parts of the UK, including for overnight stays other than where necessary, such as for work, education or to receive medical treatment
  • Everyone who can work from home should do so

The following businesses and venues can continue to operate / reopen, in a COVID-secure manner:

  • Essential and non-essential retail, including indoor and outdoor markets and car boot sales
  • Certain leisure and sporting facilities such as gyms and leisure centres, excluding group exercise classes (including fitness and dance). Saunas and steam rooms should remain closed
  • Personal care and close contact services such as hairdressers and barbers, beauty salons, tattoo parlours, nail salons and spas

When Blackpool moves into Tier 3, a number of businesses and venues must remain closed:

  • Hospitality settings, such as bars (including shisha bars), pubs, cafes and restaurants. Takeaway, delivery, click-and-collect, drive-through services can continue
  • Accommodation such as hotels, B&Bs, campsites, and guest houses
  • Indoor entertainment and tourist venues
