WORLD BOOK DAY AT ST.BERNADETTE’S

Here at St. Bernadette’s, we foster a lifelong love of reading in our children and so to celebrate World Book Day, we have decided to arrange some activities and events for the children to be involved in and around this day.

  • A Book at Bedtime - in school, on Thursday 1st March.  Reception/KS1 children can return to school, with their parents, at 6pm, with teddies and in their PJs, for a milky drink and bedtime stories.  Parents are welcome to stay in the hall, with refreshments, whilst the children go into their own class until finish at 6.30pm

(letter to follow).

  • A daily book swap stall - children can bring in their own (good quality) books and permanently exchange them at a stall run by Year 6 children on Thursday 1st March and Friday 2nd March.  Please send in any books by Wednesday 28th  February
  • An Author visit – Although we could not arrange for Dan Worsley to come into school on Thursday, he will be coming into school on Tuesday 20th March to talk to the children (Years 3 - 6).   There will be an opportunity for KS2 children to ask questions and purchase a signed copy of his book (letter to follow).
  • Scholastics Book Fair – Wednesday 28th February – Friday 2nd March (at the end of the school day).
  • Character Day - on Friday 2nd March, children can dress as a character from their favourite story book (KS2 children should be ready to answer questions about that character in front of selected judges).
  • Prizes – Prizes will be awarded to the most imaginative character in Reception/KS1 and book vouchers will be awarded to KS2.
  • Classroom activities – The teachers will be planning activities based around World Book Day so check out the website for competed work and photographs.

We hope the activities and events organised will be full of creativity and learning for our children!

Thank you for your continued support.

Yours sincerely
